Water Meadows Primary School in Hersden held a Microsoft Showcase morning on Tuesday in celebration of its recent Microsoft Showcase Award.
A prestigious award from software giant Microsoft, there are currently under 100 schools in the United Kingdom that have achieved Showcase School status.

Lara Sorrell, Business Program Manager for Microsoft Education and Ben Martin, Headteacher.
Visitors were welcomed into the school hall, where children and staff from across The Stour Academy Trust were on hand to demonstrate and answer questions about the technology and teaching techniques that are used on a daily basis by children and staff at the school.

Parents and visitors were able to tour the school to see the children following The Stour Academy Trust’s Vision for Education in practice. The vision for education focuses on giving children the necessary skills to allow them to thrive in our modern, 21st century world. The school’s focus on collaboration, inclusivity, the purposeful integration of technology and personlised learning was clear to see as children welcomed parents into their classrooms.
The award from Microsoft is another accolade to the growing school on the outskirts of Canterbury, after being named as the #1 Best Primary School in Kent by snode.co.uk.

It was a real pleasure to share the school’s vision and what it means to be a Microsoft Showcase School with the wider school community. It was great to see so many parents, family members and local councilors at the event. It was lovely to witness how confidently our young digital leaders communicated how they use the apps to support their learning with everyone who attended. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and support in achieving the showcase award and for their attendance today.
Ben Martin, Headteacher, Water Meadows Primary School
It was wonderful to learn about all the amazing technology available to the children and to see it being used was fantastic! All the children who demonstrated the different apps were so polite, friendly, engaging and so knowledgeable. They are all a credit to your school.
