Water Meadows Primary School celebrated in National Education Today Magazine

The Stour Academy Trust is delighted to celebrate the national recognition of Water Meadows Primary School, which has been featured in the September 2026 edition of Education Today magazine. The school is showcased in the publication’s View from the Classroom feature, highlighting its innovative use of virtual reality technology to support pupil wellbeing and inclusion.

As part of its digital vision, the school has become the first in the UK to participate in a trial of EduverseTHRIVE, a virtual reality wellbeing and inclusion programme. The initiative enables pupils to access personalised virtual sensory spaces, helping them regulate emotions, build independence and remain engaged in learning. The feature highlights the positive impact the school has already seen, particularly in supporting neurodivergent learners, improving emotional regulation and helping pupils feel more confident, included and ready to learn.

Water Meadows Primary School, based in Hersden and part of The Stour Academy Trust, is recognised for its forward-thinking approach to education and its commitment to ensuring every child can thrive. The feature also highlights how the school’s use of immersive technology aligns with its ambition to provide equitable learning opportunities for all pupils, 100% of the time.

Ben Martin, Headteacher of Water Meadows Primary School said:

“We are incredibly proud to see Water Meadows Primary School recognised in a national education publication. The feature is a testament to the school’s commitment to innovation, inclusion and ensuring every child can access the support they need to succeed.”

The full feature appears in the September 2026 edition of Education Today magazine under the title “How a Primary School is Using VR to Support Emotional Regulation.”
