During December 2020, The Stour Academy Trust succeeded in delivering essential festive hampers to several underserved families, who had been hit hardest by Covid-19.
This year, with the ongoing cost of living crisis, the need has become even more pressing. With many parents still facing significant challenges, the Trust launched a fundraising campaign to replicate their previous success and spread Christmas cheer to those who need it most.
30 Christmas Hampers we made by the Trust Central Team with donations from parents, staff, local businesses and members of the local community.
With donations received from staff, parents, local businesses and members of the local community, the Central Team of The Stour Academy Trust came together create 30 Christmas hampers which are being delivered to primary schools in Swale, Canterbury and Ashford.
A spokesperson for The Stour Academy Trust Central Team said, “In December 2020, we saw the profound impact of our Christmas hamper initiative on families grappling with Covid-19. This year, as we face the escalating cost of living crisis, the urgency to support our community has only grown. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of staff, parents, local businesses and members of our local communities, we’ve been able to assemble and deliver 30 Christmas hampers, bringing much-needed cheer to those facing hardships during these trying times.”
The aim of the Christmas hampers is to assist families hit the hardest by the ongoing cost of living crisis, many of whom are not eligible for free school meals. The Stour Academy Trust made the collective decision, in the spirit of Christmas, to run a fundraising campaign to provide these families with a special Christmas hamper.
