Chilmington Green Primary School has been recognised with the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Inclusive School Award and the IQM Centre of Excellence Award, celebrating its exceptional commitment to inclusion, belonging and ensuring every child is empowered to thrive.
Assessed in June 2026, the report described Chilmington Green as “a distinctive and special community” where pupils, staff and families feel “valued, included and inspired.” Throughout the assessment, the school was recognised for its unwavering focus on equity, belonging and ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed.
The assessor noted that inclusion is not simply a strategic priority at Chilmington Green, but a “lived reality” experienced across every aspect of school life. Staff spoke proudly about the school’s culture and the collective commitment to ensuring every child feels welcomed, understood and supported.
Head of School Tamsin Mobbs said:
“We are committed to creating a school where every child feels they belong, where differences are celebrated and where high aspirations are held for all. Achieving both the IQM Inclusive School Award and Centre of Excellence status is a wonderful endorsement of our values and the exceptional work of our whole school community.”
The assessor praised the school’s Specialist Resource Provision and Inclusion Base, highlighting the personalised approaches that enable pupils with additional needs to flourish within the wider school community. These provisions were recognised as examples of inclusive practice that are fully embedded within the life of the school.
The school’s BRAVE values – Brilliant, Responsible, Ambitious, Visionary and Equitable – were evident throughout the assessment and could be seen in the interactions between pupils, staff and families.
Children spoke enthusiastically about their school and the support they receive from adults and their peers.
Pupils described Chilmington Green as:
“Fun and caring.”
And that they:
“love learning.”
The assessor noted that children spoke confidently about feeling safe, valued and able to be themselves, reflecting the strong culture of inclusion that underpins the school.
A particular strength identified within the report was the school’s innovative use of technology to support learning and accessibility. The assessor highlighted how digital tools and immersive learning experiences help remove barriers to learning and promote independence, confidence and engagement for all pupils.
Parents also spoke highly of the school’s welcoming and supportive environment.
One parent described the school as:
“A second family.”
Another described Chilmington Green as:
“a community where staff genuinely care about both children and their families.”
Throughout discussions with families, the word “belonging” emerged repeatedly, demonstrating the strong relationships that exist between home and school.
The assessor concluded that Chilmington Green fully met the standard required for the Inclusive School Award and recognised the school’s exceptional inclusive practice through the award of IQM Centre of Excellence status.
Chilmington Green now joins Sturry CE Primary School and Lansdowne Primary School in achieving both the IQM Inclusive School Award and IQM Centre of Excellence status. This reflects the deeply embedded culture of inclusion across The Stour Academy Trust and the shared commitment to ensuring every child feels safe, valued, supported and able to succeed.
The Inclusion Quality Mark is a national framework that celebrates schools which foster a culture of inclusion, where every child is valued, supported and empowered to thrive. Achieving both the Inclusive School Award and Centre of Excellence status demonstrates that Chilmington Green Primary School not only meets, but exceeds, the standards of an inclusive, nurturing and forward-thinking school community.
